organic yellow beet
$ 4,50 – $ 15,00
Beta vulgaris, Amaranthaceae
A surprise bag of plump yellow beets, with flesh that's part yellow, part white. Tender, beautifully textured green tops as a bonus. Progeny of a 2nd-generation cross between 'Jaune Ovoïde des Barres' and 'Touchstone Gold'... so it's not a fixed variety! Rather, it's a 'landrace' population under selection, with variations on the yellow/white rather yellow theme.
Bag: 140-150 glomerules
10 g: 450-475 glomerules
20 g: 900-950 glomerules

Sow 1 cm deep, ~3 cm along the row, leaving 30 cm between rows. Germination takes 7 to 15 days, at 12°C to 21°C. We thin to ~10 cm between plants (which can produce a crop of mini beets). We sow in early to mid-July for an autumn harvest.
