organic ground cherry
$ 4,50 – $ 13,50
Physalis pruinosa, Solanaceae
coqueret, alkékenge, amour en cage, physalis pubescent
The ground cherry is a perfect little sweet-and-sour treat with a distinctive taste reminiscent of any other berry we've ever tasted. These little yellow fruits, wrapped in paper calyxes, fall from the plant a week or two before they're at their best. They keep for weeks afterwards on the counter. A highly branched, drought-tolerant plant that grows like a tomato and doesn't need staking (unless trained high up in a greenhouse, for example). This is the typical small-fruited species.
