Beta vulgaris, Amaranthaceae
syn. Beet 'Écorce
The 'Crapaudine' beet is a very old variety, already listed in the 17th century. Its dark red flesh is of exceptional flavor, revealing hazelnut and rose aromas when cooked. It keeps very well. A half-long, conical root, it owes its name to its black, wrinkled, rough skin. Tan-green leaves. Slow growth = Late. A variety prized by gourmets.
