The 'Noir des Carmes' melon is an old variety from France (1787). It is a very early 'cantaloupe'-type melon, with dark green, almost black skin and sweet, fragrant yellow-orange flesh. The skin turns a mottled greenish orange when fully ripe.

Sow directly in place when the soil has warmed to at least 20°C. You can also sow in a container, 4 weeks before transplanting, no earlier. The ideal germination temperature is between 25°C and 30°C.
