organic red rhubarb
$ 4,50
Rheum x cultorum, syn. R. rhabarbarum, Polygonaceae
Red-stemmed rhubarb is one of the key ingredients in our family cooking memories of growing up in Quebec. It's also a staple of northern gastronomy in general, because it grows well wherever it's cool and tasty!
This generous regular of our gardens needs no introduction, but I'd like to invite you to experiment a little more with its stems... for example, use them cooked (without sugar) as a tangy vegetable accompaniment to fish. Or add fresh angelica stem to your usual rhubarb dessert: this perfect pairing will establish itself as a new classic duo in your kitchen, like tomato and basil. Hardy perennial up to zone 2.
