For a series of two workshops on vegetable dyeing, La société des plantes is pleased to welcome to its premises Dahlia Milon craftswoman specializing in vegetable dyes and the cultivation of dye plants.
In this second workshop, Dahlia aims to introduce you to indigo dyeing in a simple and fun way.
With the help of images, she will share with participants a short presentation of her work on the cultivation of Japanese indigo in Kamouraska and the steps involved in extracting the pigment.
A vat of fructose indigo will be created collectively during the workshop from pigment extracted in the participant's garden, so that each participant can dye a beautiful silk scarf in local blue.
An introduction to the art of Shibori (folding and tying fabric) will be presented to participants, and some basic patterns will be explained so that participants can create their own designs on their scarves. Each participant will be able to dye a silk scarf with shibori motifs.
Indigo leaf tea will be offered throughout the workshop.

Dahlia Milon Textile is an artisanal workshop specializing in vegetable dyes, as well as a dye plant production garden. In the preparation of her dyes, she uses plants mainly from her dye plant garden, as well as wild plants harvested in the Kamouraska region, where she is located.
Dahlia's mission is to make high-quality, local dye plants available to the public, as part of her own contribution to the necessary change in the textile industry to make it more environmentally friendly. She is also committed to sharing her knowledge of vegetable dyeing and offers several workshops, sharing her knowledge and passion.
The workshop will take place at LA SOCIÉTÉ DES PLANTES, 207, rang de l'Embarras, Kamouraska.
In the event of cancellation of the workshop on the part of the organizers, a full refund will be made. If you have to cancel your attendance, a fee of 20$/person will be deducted from the refund, to cover costs and losses incurred. In the event of cancellation within 72 hours of the workshop, this fee will be 50$.
