holy basil
$ 4,50 – $ 11,00
Ocimum sanctum, Lamiaceae (Labiatae)
tulsi
Holy basil has so little to do with sweet basil! Originating in India, where it is dedicated to Lakshmi, wife of Vishnu, god of life, "tulsi" means "incomparable". Its aroma is complex and powerful, with a dominant note of clove that enhances our fruit salads, sorbets and herbal teas. Basil has important medicinal properties (nerve tonic, antispasmodic) and, as a sacred plant, confers protection on the home. We offer a line adapted to Quebec's temperate climate.
bag = approx. 375 seeds

Press Holy Basil seeds into moist potting soil at the end of April, between 20°C and 23°C, and keep moist. Water preferably from underneath to prevent the seedlings from melting. Transplant at 20-30 cm intervals in the garden after any danger of frost.
Looking for a classic basil pesto? This is the Genovese you need! Note that we like the pesto from Greek basil too...
