Lakota winter squash
$ 4,50
Cucurbita maxima, Cucurbitaceae
squash, pumpkin
Lakota winter squash is early, decorative and delicious. It is recognized by its pear shape and orange skin with a green star at the tip. Sometimes there are a few variegated green stripes... Its finely grained, yellow-orange flesh tastes nutty and its texture is crunchy under the tooth: a very pleasant crudité, as is or in fruit salad... it's also excellent roasted or in pie. Keeps very well. Fruits weigh 2 to 3.5 kg. 85-100 days to maturity from sowing.
This variety, very reliable for our Nordic gardens, has been selected from a line of the type landrace from the native culture of the state of Nebraska.
