Bush Delicata organic winter squash

$ 4,50

Cucurbita pepo, Cucurbitaceae

The 'Bush Delicata' winter squash is a small, cylindrical squash, 10-15 cm long, cream in color with dark green stripes. This variety was bred from the 'Delicata' at U. Cornell in N.Y., U.S.A. Like its relative, it is ideal for lovers of sweet, dark yellow-orange flesh and for single people. This excellent squash, which tastes like sweet potatoes and chestnuts, is perfect raw, baked stuffed or not, in soufflés, in cakes...

Its flesh is dry with a thin enough skin that it can be eaten with the flesh. The shoots are shorter than those of the standard 'Delicata' squash, making this cultivar well suited to growing in a large pot or in a small space, such as in a community garden. Its tolerance to mildew is also one of its assets. 85-95 days to maturity. The first winter squash to be harvested!
