organic perennial blue linen
$ 4,50
Linum perenne, Linaceae
This sky-blue flax is a hardy perennial in zone 4, easy to grow from seed, and adapts well to a sunny spot in soil that tends to be dry. Between 30 and 60 cm tall, with its small, needle-like, bluish-green leaves and upright but not rigid habit, it's easy to find a place for it in the garden. The flowers open early in the morning (real butterfly magnets!) and are short-lived, but are constantly renewed from July to September.

Direct sowing in the garden is recommended, as transplanting is tricky. Seeds are scattered on the ground, buried shallowly... germination takes place at 20°C and stretches over about 2 weeks, slower in cooler weather. The final spacing between plants should be around 40 cm. Do not over-fertilize, as this will reduce flowering... Perennial blue flax will flower from the 2nd year onwards. It can be reseeded!
