Riponce does not like acid soils or heavy clays. Its seeds are so fine that it's best to mix them with sand and broadcast them in May/June (18°C-20°C). Germination a little slow and irregular; do not cover seeds. Press into the surface of the soil and water often. Sow a little tightly and "seedlings are thinned out successively, removing the most advanced, which are ready to be eaten when the root reaches the size of a feather pipe"informs us in Maison rustique des dames, volume 2. Thin to 20 cm between plants, keeping 25-30 cm between rows. Roots do not keep well. They are eaten as they are harvested.
