Mimulus guttatus, Scrophulariaceae

syn. Erythranthe guttata, yellow mimule, spotted mimule

The spotted mimule is a charming plant for colonizing wetlands. Native to the west coast of North America, where it thrives in soggy soil, it can be grown in partial shade if the soil cannot be kept moist, or in sun. Rather creeping, it spreads out in all directions with small steps. The flower stems rise to form clusters of bright yellow flowers spotted with red, shaped like a monkey's face, all summer long. One of Dr. Bach's first flowers. Hardy perennial and/or annual that can be reseeded. 40 cm high.
