organic valerian officinale
$ 4,50
Valeriana officinalis, Caprifoliaceae
Valerian officinalis takes its name from the Latin "valere" meaning "to be strong and healthy", probably in recognition of its powerful action on the nervous system. It's the root we're most interested in when we're herbalists (or cats), but the pinkish-white blossoms also provide us with one of the sweet, penetrating scents of early summer, which bees also appreciate. Hardy herbaceous perennial in zone 3, very easy to grow. It adapts to all kinds of conditions and, be warned, it can reseed abundantly. 75 cm to 1 m 50 cm high.
approx. 75 seeds (double bags for medium germination rate)
Seeds certified organic by Québec Vraiproduced here at LA SOCIÉTÉ DES PLANTES
Press seeds onto the surface of potting soil (light needed for germination) and keep moist at around 18°C. Germination: 15-21 days. When seedlings appear sufficiently developed, transplant to 30-45 cm intervals.
