HALF-WILD ZINE

As with our MI-SAUVAGE exhibition at the Centre d'art de Kamouraska (2022), the Zine's subject is weeds: plants that propagate on their own, without human help. Sometimes they're already present in the garden, but we relegate them to the rank of weeds; other times we introduce them, but they don't behave the way we thought they would. In the best cases, the weeds chosen offer many parts of themselves, feeding everyday cooking, confectionery and distillery as well as folk medicine, and may in parallel play a role with other plants in the garden, as horticultural remedies or as hosts to beneficial insects. Interviews, exchanges with spontaneous plant enthusiasts, recipes and poetry!
