Alchemilla mollis, Rosaceae

alchemilla, lion's paw, manteau de Notre-Dame, porte-rosée, lady's mantle

Alchemilla is a very hardy, undemanding plant that thrives even in lightly shaded areas under trees, where it is used as ground cover. Its soft-green, velvety-textured foliage is rounded and delicately fan-shaped. Droplets of rain or dew are trapped there, creating a magical picture that has contributed to its reputation as a magical plant since Antiquity. This enchanting presence is further enhanced by the cloud of tiny chartreuse-green flowers... Hardy perennial up to zone 2. 30-45 cm.

Like many Rosaceae, it is rich in tannins, which give it astringent properties. It is used externally on wounds and inflammations, or internally, with a predilection for the female reproductive system.

[of course, we advise you to turn to the appropriate health-care staff for prescribing herbal use protocols].
