The 'Crackerjack' marigold has been popular for over 40 years. Huge yellow to yellow-orange pompons, as seen strung in garlands at religious ceremonies in India. Given to hens, the petals make the egg yolk more fiery. An indispensable flavoring in Georgian, Uzbek and Caucasian cuisine in general... It is also an excellent cut flower. 90 cm.

The marigold can be a perennial, but since it's not very hardy, it's grown as an annual. Sow seeds indoors in moist potting soil 6-8 weeks before last frost. Germination 4-14 days, between 21 °C and 27 °C. Transplant after any danger of frost, spaced 30-45 cm apart in all directions.
