The 'Carosello Barese' melon cucumber is light green and ribbed. It has a thin skin under its characteristic down and its flesh is very firm, never bitter. Like the Armenian cucumber, it is botanically speaking an immature melon: a specialty of the Puglia region in southern Italy.
