Cyclanthera pedata, Cucurbitaceae
For your fences and pergolas: Digitated leaf cyclanthera is a highly fertile plant native to the Andes, trailing or climbing up to 2, 3, sometimes 4 meters. Its elegant, cannabis-like leaves and tiny, deliciously fragrant flowers are followed by small, slipper-like fruits with a strong cucumber aroma. Consume as is, stuffed or in marinades. The oddly cut black seeds are a curious collector's item. Annual.
