L'Embarras organic Branchu cabbage

$ 4,50$ 16,00

Brassica oleacea var. acephala, Brassicaceae

You could say that L'Embarras Branchu cabbage is somewhere between kale and collard greens. We love its melt-in-the-mouth texture and exquisite flavor, which is very appetizing. greenThis type of forage kale is not only delicious, but also highly productive. Sown in August, the young plants overwinter and continue to grow after the snow melts. This is interesting because, in addition to the autumn harvest of leaves, we have the best harvest in the spring that follows, when there are few ready vegetables in the garden. We pick the stalks, leaves and first, almost-open flowers when they're still tender. Eat cooked or in salads. 60-80 cm high.

Non-stabilized variety resulting from an in-house cross of: 'Branchu du Poitou' (Biau Germe) x 'Madeley' (Adaptive Seeds) x 'Sutherland' (Adaptive Seeds)

Sow in the field around mid-August, about 1 cm deep, in rows + or- 50 cm apart (cover with insect netting), then gradually thin out to a distance of 50 cm between plants.

OR start with potted plants a few weeks earlier and transplant at 50 cm intervals.

You can also start cultivation in spring, but the resulting plants will be too old to survive the rigors of winter with grace.
