organic Manchurian clematis

$ 4,75

Clematis mandshurica, Ranunculaceae

The Manchurian clematis soars over 1 m, then seeks to cling to any available support between 1 m 50 and 1 m 80, like a suspended cloud: a fragrant cloud in the heart of summer, covered with small white star-shaped flowers that smell of aniseed, almond essence and vanilla... Like other clematis, it appreciates a situation that keeps its feet in the shade and its head in the sun. Give it a few stakes, a shrub, a building official's sign or some other accessory that will keep its fragrant cloud in the air, otherwise the bloom will clump close to the ground. Once well established, it will resist drought well.

Soak Manchurian clematis seeds in water for 24 to 5 days, then sow them at 20°C for 6 weeks. Then place the containers in a cold environment (between -4°C and 4°C) to stratify them for 6 weeks, checking from time to time for any seeds that germinate in the cold. Then take them out at a temperature ideally around 10°C, or fluctuating between 10°C and 20°C. Germination will take more than 30 days, so keep an eye on them!
