$ 4,50

Leuzea carthamoides, Asteraceae

Maral's horn is a hardy perennial native to the Lake Baikal region of Siberia. Once established, it grows quickly in spring and its large purple pompons bloom in early summer. It prefers cool, deep soil in full sun. 1 m-1.50 m high. Zone 2.

Traditionally, the Siberians consumed its root as a stimulating and fortifying herbal tea. A number of recent studies have demonstrated its adaptogenic properties and anabolic effect, boosting concentration, physical performance, endurance and recovery after exercise.

Sow in spring or summer (it will only flower in year 2). Germination should be well under way after 3 weeks, at 15°C-18°C.
Leave 60 cm between the small plants, which will become quite large, and position them so that they are more prominent in early summer, as the ornamental qualities of this plant wear off after flowering.
