Malva moschata, Malvaceae

musk mallow

Musk mallow is a wild European mallow that has long been naturalized in Quebec. Its handsome, dissected foliage and pearly pink or white flowers form charming clumps in areas of the garden where its tendency to reseed spontaneously is tolerated. Like any other mallow, it is a gentle herbal tea, soothing coughs and inflammation of the digestive and urinary tracts... In the kitchen, we love its spring shoots in salads, its flowers, and the young, still green fruits, like those of other mallows. Hardy perennial in zone 3, for sun or part-shade. 80 cm high.
