nepitella bio

$ 4,50

Clinopodium nepeta (syn. Calamintha nepeta), Lamiaceae (Labiatae)

Calament faux-nepeta, mentuccia, nepitella, nepita

It's hard to resist the minty, musky, fruity and peppery aroma of nepitella, known as mentuccia in Rome. Add it to your zucchini or mushroom dishes, as is traditionally done in Tuscany. It's also the essential herb for cooking the sublime artichokes "alla romana"... This easy-to-grow perennial forms cushions of shiny leaves that are illuminated by numerous tiny mauve flowers, so welcome in late summer, when the garden softens, until the hard frosts. Makes a good ground cover at the foot of shrub roses. Hardy perennial in zone 4 in full sun. 35 cm.
