Coriandrum sativum, Apiaceae

Coriander has a powerful, distinctive flavor, with refreshing fruity and floral notes. It is appreciated in many culinary cultures around the globe, from Asia to Europe to Latin America... There are very few people who don't enjoy this flavor. You either love it, or you hate it! We love it, and yes, it's true that it's an herb that flowers quickly, but that doesn't matter, because our favorite part is the seed when it's still green: an under-exploited delight. This batch of seeds comes from a mixed population, so you can expect variations from one plant to the next.

Coriander seeds contain 2 or more seeds... you can rub the seeds between your hands to separate the individual seeds if you like, or simply sow the seeds as they are. Transplanting coriander may cause it to go to seed prematurely.  So it's best to sow it directly in the garden when the temperature is at least 18°C, ~5 mm deep, in rows 30 cm apart. Thin young plants to keep one every 10-15 cm. Sow repeatedly every 2-3 weeks to spread the harvest over the whole season.
