organic Limachino tomato

$ 4,50

Solanum lycopersicum, Solanaceae

The Limachino tomato originates from the town of Limache, just north of Santiago in Chile, where it is a powerful symbol of regional cultural identity. We, who love big, plump, productive tomatoes, fell under its spell. Disappeared from the trade some forty years ago because it didn't hold up well in terms of shelf life alongside commercial hybrid varieties, it's back on the scene today, as people have remembered its flavor and suffered from its absence! Fruit ripens from 75 days after transplanting.

Seeds obtained from Ricardo Valdés, who grows this tomato in a nursery forest in Linares, Chile.
