organic sheep's ear

$ 4,50

Stachys lanata (syn. S. byzantina)Lamiaceae (Labiatae)

bear's ear, woolly epiary, sheep's tongue, lamb's ears

Sheep's ear forms a thick carpet of silvery-gray velvet, which in summer is adorned with spikes of purplish-pink flowers. Some gardeners cut them back because it's the downy foliage that is most appreciated in this species, by humans at least... because pollinators love the nectar from the flowers! It's a very hardy perennial that will tolerate dry, even gravelly gardens. Zone 3.
