tomatillo Indian Strain bio
$ 4,50 – $ 23,00
Physalis ixocarpa, Solanaceae
Tomatillo 'Indian Strain' is an early variety, very fertile and very sweet. A basic ingredient in Mexican salsa verde. The paper-covered fruits look like large ground cherries and fall to the ground when ready. Some will be green and tart, perfect for salsa, while others will have ripened to a yellow color and will be very sweet and fragrant.
Its yellow flowers with brown stripes are charming, all facing downwards, and it would be worth growing plants in large, raised pots to appreciate them from below. The plant adapts remarkably well to the wind, bracing itself on stems that it bends on purpose, like flying buttresses. A traditional variety of the Southwestern U.S. obtained from J.L. Hudson.
