Brassica rapa, Brassicaceae

syn. Finnish Yellow turnip, Petrowski Early Round Yellow turnip, rabiole

The old Petrovski turnip, also sometimes called the 'Finnish yellow turnip', is said to have been Goethe's favorite: a cream-fleshed yellow turnip, very hardy, at its best young and not too large. It can be grown as an early crop in spring, but will do much better sown from mid-July to early August, for harvesting in October. Keeps well.
